Mel Gibson has been charged with simple misdemeanor battery, avoiding a felony domestic violence count that could have landed him in jail.
Gibson will plead no contest when he is formally arraigned today at LA Superior Court at 1:30 PT.
As MC reported earlier, the actor will avoid jail with this plea deal, but will be required to undergo regular counseling.
The charge stems from Gibson’s infamous January 2010 blowup with Oksana Grigorieva, who claims the star hit her while she held their daughter Lucia.
